The X-files (1998)
Written by Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz and directed by Rob Bowman, the X-files movie was filmed between season 4 and 5 and released between seasons 5 and 6 of the television series. Music was scored by Mark Snow and the premiere was on June 19, 1998.
The filmmakers went to great lengths to preserve secrecy, including printing the script on red paper to prevent photocopying, and leaking disinformation to the media. The working title for the movie was Blackwood.
Like practically every episodes of the series, the movie is full of "inside jokes" and references. Examples include the use of the numbers 1013 and 1121 (Chris Carter's production company named after his birthday is Ten Thirteen productions, 21st of November is his wife's birthday) and the cornfield chase scene which is a reference to North by Northwest.
